see the stars

as the sun began to set
the light filtered through
and it was pale and yellow and everybody
everybody
looked like movie stars
but as something dark crept up
the light began to die
and it was black and thick and everywhere
everywhere
it smelt like fate
and the stars -
you couldn't see the stars
